About East Valley Family Therapy

Chris Chatwin, Intern

Queen Creek Office and online

Philosophy / Approach
Chris is passionate about breaking the stigma surrounding mental health. He has witnessed many men and women suffering quietly, believing they have no safe outlet for their struggles. Chris believes that vulnerability takes courage — and he strives to cultivate a therapeutic space where both women and men can feel seen, understood, and supported. He holds a conviction that even the most challenging life issues can be navigated toward peace and stronger connection.

Background & Expertise
Chris brings a wealth of lived experience to his work: as a business owner, husband, and father. He has walked through relational stress, addiction, and the generational impact of trauma, and he understands the unique pressures of raising a child with special needs. These experiences inform his empathy and insight when supporting clients through complex family dynamics, addiction recovery, infidelity, betrayal, and trauma.

Education & Training
Chris holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Communication (minor: Sociology) from Arizona State University. He is completing a Master of Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Grand Canyon University and is certified as a Deceptive Sexuality & Trauma Therapist. Through these credentials and specialized training, Chris equips himself to support clients dealing with sex addiction, betrayal, abuse, and deception.

Personal & Values
Outside of therapy, Chris values time with family and staying active. He enjoys motorsports (dirt bikes, quads, high-performance cars) and finds joy in food, music, films, and books. He and his wife share a tradition of watching the extended version of The Lord of the Rings annually. Through these interests, Chris connects with what it means to live fully — and he brings that connection into his work with others.
