About East Valley Family Therapy

Philosophy

Kara’s passion is helping individuals uncover what it means to “Live Your Best Life.” As a therapist, she seeks to help people see how working through their trauma, setbacks, and fear of the unknown are all key factors in rediscovering who they really are. Kara loves showing how therapy can allow everyone to utilize their “toolbox” to start setting goals and keeping them, how to make and maintain clear boundaries, and allow “YOU” to come first.

Walking the hard path of healing with them, Kara wants to help people be gentle with themselves, and understand why we get stuck sometimes and can’t get out of our own way; that sometimes we just need a little help. She loves to empower her clients and help them see that they have what it takes to maintain better relationships, to remain accountable to themselves and their goals, or simply to be even more awesome!

Therapy Focus

Kara enjoys working with a diverse group of clientele. She especially clicks with teens, as well as adults. She also enjoys working with couples and families to create stronger bonds and understanding. Kara specializes in working with Depression, Anxiety, Relationship Issues, Trauma, and Behavioral Concerns. Her motto is: Meet them where they are. Kara also has experience working with clients that have had weight loss surgery and the effects that surgery can have on everyday life and relationships. She also has a passion for working with athletes who are struggling with the pressure of being a student athlete or transitioning out of sports due to injury.

Credentials

Kara is a Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC). She received her Master’s Degree in Marriage, Couple and Family Counseling from Walden University, with a specialization in Career Counseling and Forensic Counseling. (This second master’s has allowed her to build upon her first Master’s degree in Mediation and Conflict Resolution.) Additionally, Kara has worked for many years as a Lifestyle Educator and Life Coach certified in Nutrition, Life Purpose Coaching, Happiness Coaching, and Goal Success Coaching.

Personal Life

Along with being a therapist, Kara is the wife to the love of her life since 2018, as well as a busy mama of three children ranging from preschool to college. She’s also a proud turtle-mom! A self-described “crazy entrepreneurial business lady,” Kara has started multiple businesses. Her absolute passion in life is helping others achieve their goals and seeing people step outside of their comfort zone. An athlete and coach most of her life, Kara has found that bringing those disciplines off the field and into real life can empower people to find their drive. Kara herself has overcome some tough obstacles: from enduring life as a single mother, to finding love again after surviving an abusive marriage. A hidden talent most don’t know about Kara is that she is a closet event planner. She loves finding every excuse in the book to make even a simple event extraordinary.
