“We cannot become what we want by remaining what we are.” – Max Depnee

Philosophy

Janna is passionate about helping people better understand themselves and how they relate to others, especially their partners. She believes in profound, meaningful relationships and in the benefit counseling can have in strengthening and maintaining them. Learning to turn to our loved ones for connection can be challenging; Janna believes that learning to communicate our feelings and desires effectively greatly deepens these bonds! Janna enjoys working with couples, families, teens, and individuals who are seeking to improve themselves and their relationships in a safe, open, non-judgmental space.

Experience

As a therapist, Janna is especially familiar in working with couples dealing with betrayal and infidelity, and she has spent many years doing so. Betrayal trauma can surface in many forms, and Janna sincerely desires to help and work with women and couples seeking a way to overcome and recover from the effects of partner betrayal.

Credentials

Janna graduated with a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Capella University in 2022. She graduated with her Bachelor’s degree in Family Studies from Brigham Young University in 2020 (at 50 years old!) after spending 22 years raising her family. She has completed the Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) externship and is currently onto the next level of EFT training in CORE Skills. She is also a student member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT).

Personal Life

Janna’s own story and journey has led her to become a therapist later in life, and her lifetime of parenting five children, marriage to her best friend since 1993, being a sister, daughter, friend and colleague has given Janna the best education and experience to prepare her for this work. Some of her greatest joys are crossing the globe (she’s traveled to 21 countries and stood on the Great Wall of China), and baking – she cooks a mean cinnamon roll! She also loves reading historical fiction, spending time with family and friends, and competitively playing board games – don’t go up against her in Scrabble- you’ll lose!  Being the mom to 4 adult guys and 1 gal has been an exciting transition for her, and she and her husband of 29 years are loving thier “empty nester” life together. Janna loves her three daughters-in-law like her own, and just recently she became a new grandma to a beautiful grandson!
