About East Valley Family Therapy

Cari McCormick, Intern

Queen Creek Office & Online

Philosophy

Cari believes that everyone can find fulfillment and purpose in life! She also recognizes that life events – trauma, illness, disorders, addiction, legal and relationship issues, etc – can really slow us down in that pursuit. However, Cari wants to help her clients see that such life events can provide opportunities to develop a deeper connection with others and themselves.

Overall, her approach is strengths-based, holistic, and trauma informed – meaning Cari is always listening and looking for her client’s strengths. Furthermore, her goal is to provide a warm, empathetic, and collaborative environment so that her client can explore their thoughts and behaviors for the benefit of self-reflection, self-discovery, healing, change, and growth.

Emphasis

Cari has a vast experience in helping those with spousal caregiver support, chronic disease, weight-loss surgery, as well as elderly parental support. She can additionally support those with Trauma, PTSD, family-member of addiction, single parenting, church authority abuse and Disordered Eating.

Education

Cari got her Bachelor’s of Psychology at Grand Canyon University, and is currently earning her Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Grand Canyon University. As part of earning her Master’s Degree, East Valley Family Therapy is happy to welcome her as its newest intern!

Personal Life

Cari is married to her high school sweetheart of more than 25 years and has three older children and one grandchild. She has lived in Arizona since 1998 and enjoys its beautiful sunsets and wonderful winter weather. Her favorite places are anywhere with water such as, her backyard and the beach. After 20 years of co-owning her business with her husband and family, she felt it was time to complete what she started – her education in counseling!  She is thrilled she can support her community in their goals of growth and healing.
